LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded the contributions of overseas Pakistanis and the bravery of the country’s armed forces . Additionally , highlighting their pivotal role in stabilising the economy and safeguarding national security

A Defining Victory of May 10

Speaking at the Overseas Convention in London, PM Sharif congratulated the nation on what he termed the “great victory of May 10,” calling it a turning point in Pakistan’s history. He recalled that when false allegations were levelled against Pakistan over the Pulwama incident . Moreover , he categorically declared in Kakul that Pakistan had no involvement. Despite his suggestion for an international investigation, the neighboring country did not respond.

Pakistan’s Strong Response to Aggression

The Prime Minister recounted that on May 6, enemy attacks claimed the lives of innocent Pakistanis, destroyed mosques, and targeted civilian assets. Pakistan was compelled to defend itself and responded decisively.
“In one swift action, Pakistan downed six enemy aircraft,” he said, adding that this forced the aggressor to understand the serious consequences of escalation.

Role of Armed Forces and National Unity

PM Sharif revealed that when Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir informed him of renewed Indian aggression and sought permission to retaliate . In addition , he immediately gave the go-ahead.
“Our armed forces taught the enemy a lifelong lesson,” he remarked.

He explained that three elements ensured victory:

  1. The courage and faith of the armed forces.
  2. The unity of the Pakistani nation.
  3. The decisive leadership of the military.

He praised Pakistan’s “falcons” for their exceptional performance . Furthermore , noting that the entire nation, from Karachi to Peshawar, stood united in prayer and resilience.

Overseas Pakistanis: The Backbone of the Economy

Turning to the role of the diaspora, PM Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to overseas Pakistanis.
“Even if weighed in gold and jewels, their worth cannot be matched,” he said, saluting them for being the political and economic voice of Pakistan.

He further highlighted that overseas Pakistanis had sent a record $38.5 billion in remittances, providing crucial support to the national economy.

Government’s Commitment to Overseas Pakistanis

PM Sharif reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting overseas Pakistanis, calling them one of the greatest assets of the country. He acknowledged their sacrifices, dedication, and patriotism as vital for Pakistan’s growth and stability.
