Global Focus on Soybeans
In mid-August, Washington, DC hosted Soy Connext 2025, organized by the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC). The event highlighted soybeans as a vital crop for global food security. More than 700 participants from 59 countries joined the conference to discuss soy’s role in feeding a growing population.
Pakistan Joins Global Dialogue
Trade teams from 34 countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, visited American farms and ports. They witnessed modern technology and reliable practices that make US soy a trusted global supplier. US soy is known worldwide for its consistency, sustainability, and role in food and energy security.
Soybeans Driving the Global Economy
The scale of the industry is massive. In 2024, US soy contributed $31.2 billion to the American economy. It reached more than 80 countries. Demand continues to rise, with global soybean consumption projected to hit 346 million metric tonnes in 2025. Soy is now central to poultry, dairy, and aquaculture industries worldwide.
Pakistan’s Delegation and Trade Relations
Pakistan’s delegation, led by the All-Pakistan Solvent Extractors’ Association, actively participated in the event. They met with US farmers and suppliers. Discussions focused on strong trade relations between Pakistan and the US. For Pakistan, US soy provides consistent, high-quality, and affordable protein to millions of households.
Importance of Soybean Meal in Poultry Feed
Soybean meal, a key by-product, is the main ingredient in poultry feed. Poultry makes up nearly half of Pakistan’s meat consumption. It is the most affordable and accessible source of protein for families. With a population of over 250 million, most of whom are young, the demand for nutritious and affordable food is growing rapidly. Imports of US soy are vital for ensuring food security and supporting healthier futures.
Recognition for Pakistan at the Event
On the sidelines, Pakistan’s Dr. Rai M. Sajid from Jadeed Group earned global recognition. He won the STAR Award under USSEC’s Soy Excellence Center (SEC) program. The SEC builds capacity by training future professionals in aquaculture, poultry, and feed milling across emerging markets, including Pakistan.
Building Partnerships for a Secure Future
Soy Connext 2025 proved that global cooperation benefits all. For Pakistan, this partnership extends beyond soybeans. It is an investment in people, industries, and the nation’s future. With platforms like Soy Connext, countries work together to create a protein-secure and nutritious world. It would be really helpful for improving economic growth in Pakistan
