The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sindh IT Company (SITC) to implement the Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP) in Sindh. This collaboration is aimed at strengthening digital governance, improving public service delivery, and building a unified national digital ecosystem.
Federal–Provincial Partnership for Digital Transformation
The MoU was formally signed by the Additional Secretary of MoITT and the CEO of Sindh IT Company, with Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima present to witness the ceremony. The agreement sets the foundation for federal and provincial cooperation to accelerate the digital economy and modernize governance structures.
Key Initiatives Under DEEP
Under the partnership, MoITT will act as the sponsoring body, providing financial support, policy guidance, and technical expertise while ensuring smooth project execution nationwide. Major initiatives under DEEP include:
- National Digital Services Portal
- Pakistan Digital ID
- Digital Vaults
- Pakistan Business Portal
- National Data Exchange Layer
These projects are designed to integrate government services, ensure data security, and provide citizens with seamless access to digital platforms.
Minister Highlights Vision of Digital Pakistan
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shaza Fatima emphasized that the launch of DEEP in Sindh reflects the government’s commitment to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Digital Nation Vision. She noted that the project would not only improve governance and transparency but also unlock new opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth.
The Minister also extended her gratitude to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for supporting the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to make Pakistan a connected and technology-driven economy.
Role of Sindh IT Company
Sindh IT Company will lead the local implementation of DEEP by working with provincial government entities to ensure data integration, infrastructure development, and capacity building. This approach aims to empower Sindh’s institutions with modern digital tools and strengthen citizen-centric governance.
