Social issues in Pakistan are currently, nowadays full of political and other problems. It will require a lot of time to talk about it. But we will talk about some most highlighted problems, that need an active approach to be raised by the government and should be solved swiftly because they are creating and showing a negative image of Pakistan. These issues are affecting the Pakistani people from significant growth. It is a South-Asian country and many social issues are blurring Pakistan from development and progress. Here in this blog post, we have some of the main issues which are to be raised. Some of the major social problems and issues are mentioned below:
Illiteracy:
According to reports and surveys, the literacy rate in Pakistan is 58-60%, which means that the remaining 40% is illiterate. People in rural areas are uneducated and are imposed to earn and bring money to homes. Illiteracy leads to many bigger problems in which inequality among the people, class difference, unemployment, and poverty are hugely found. The constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan says, that the illiteracy rate should be reduced, and provide the children with compulsory education free of cost. When we see Pakistan in terms of social problems, the reports for 2021 of Human development, it has ranked Pakistan 154th in terms of illiteracy. The main reason for this illiteracy rate is unawareness of the importance of education in the far-flung areas of Pakistan such as Sindh, Balochistan, KPK, Fata, and south Punjab where the importance of education is less and tribal systems thrive.
Poverty:
Poverty is another social issue in Pakistan, it is the condition of need i.e food, water, shelter, education, etc, all matters squeeze to the government’s ignorance and it is due to the political, social, and economic problems. If we come to the reports submitted by the Ministry of planning and development in the National Assembly of Pakistan, it is known that around 29.5% of Pakistanis are below the line of Poverty which gives a rating of55.9 million people. The economy of Pakistan is increasing day by day, and the progress of people is very much slow. The main reasons for poverty in Pakistan are the growth of the population, no planning, and unexpected pregnancies. Mostly the uneducated people lack technical skills. The other reason is that 80% of taxes come from the middle class which the rich dont usually pay, and gender inequality is also one of them.
Corruption:
Corruption is almost uncontrolled in Pakistan and it is now part of every society in Pakistan. It is spread due to illiteracy, when a student fails in getting admission where he or she deserves it, then they choose the second evil way. Corruption has also disturbed the economic system of Pakistan and due to this, the debt is increasing in Pakistan. Corruption also leads to injustices and goes crimes and murders when people fail to get their rights. The hight main reason for Corruption is the injustice of the judiciary system, if it gets done everything will be good and gets stable. When someone came to bring justice and awake people from slavery, they were removed or something bad happened to them. Corruption is directed at poor-law enforcement which is now normal in a society of Pakistan.
Poor-Law Enforcement:
In Pakistan, the law enforcement agencies are tragic. If we talk about the police they give justice to people, but they dont have the proper training to manage the case and investigate it, so, therefore, crime is common in every city. In police agencies the bribe is common and the causes of poor people are pending and they are in jail. Police dont even report the case due to the burden on them, if they are not given bribery, There are many several events on which the law-enforcement agencies have failed to take on control of the situation of protest.
Nepotism:
Nepotism falls in the category of corruption, in which the person in the government sector who has power favors or helps their relatives, friends, and family or gives employment to them. The person who deserves the job loses his right because of injustice. Due to nepotism the deserving people dont get the job or admission. And that’s why the skilled-full people dont arise and cant serve the country. Also, for this reason, Pakistan is behind all the countries in every sector.
Unemployment:
Unemployment is another one of the major issues raised in Pakistan 2022. The rate of unemployment in Pakistan was at 4.45% in 2019 approximately. During these three years of the pandemic, a huge number of people lost their job, and the unemployment ratio increased much. Another factor involved is illiteracy and a major factor behind unemployment. This unemployment also leads to poverty, backwardness, and the economic downfall of the country. If we have to build a great nation, then it is necessary that men and women both take part in every sector for the growth and development of the country, but people dont understand and neglect it. The reasons for this unemployment are lack of quality education, almost none amount of all institutes to teach technical skills, lack of the opportunity for the youth, and lack of resources.
